Thunderbird: setting up your email

For Thunderbird on Windows, Mac and Linux. You need your email address and the password of your mailbox; everything else is below.

  1. Start a new account

Click the menu (three lines) at the top right, then New Account and Email.

  2. Enter name, address and password

Your name as recipients see it, your full email address and the password of your mailbox. Click Continue.

  3. Check what Thunderbird found

Thunderbird looks up the settings itself. If it shows IMAP with imap.migadu.com and SMTP with smtp.migadu.com, click Done.

  4. If that doesn't work: manually

Click Configure manually. Incoming: protocol IMAP, server imap.migadu.com, port 993, connection security SSL/TLS, authentication "Normal password". Outgoing: server smtp.migadu.com, port 465, connection security SSL/TLS, authentication "Normal password". The username for both is your full email address, with the password of your mailbox. Click Re-test and then Done.

Buttons sometimes have slightly different names per version than here; the details you fill in are always the same. If it doesn't work, first check that your password is right by logging in to the webmail.
