Setting up your email on your own device
Here are the details every email app needs, and the steps for each app. You can also read your email straight away without setting anything up, in the webmail.
Your email address
Enter your address and it appears in every guide where you need to type it. It stays in your browser and is not sent to us.
Your mailbox details

- Username: your full email address, for both incoming and outgoing.
- Password: the password of your mailbox. We don't know it; if you have lost it, we send you a link to choose a new one.
- Account type: IMAP. Then you see the same folders and messages on every device.
- Webmail: without setting anything up you can also read and send your email at webmail.modexsoftware.nl. Log in with your full email address and your password; leave the field for the verification code empty.
Choose your email app
- Outlook (classic) on Windows For Outlook from Microsoft 365 or Office 2016 and newer, with the File menu at the top left.
- New Outlook on Windows For the new Outlook app in Windows 10 and 11, with the gear icon at the top right.
- Outlook on the Mac For Outlook for Mac from Microsoft 365.
- Apple Mail on the Mac For macOS 13 Ventura and newer (System Settings).
- Apple Mail on an older Mac For macOS 12 Monterey and older (System Preferences).
- Mail on iPhone and iPad For iOS and iPadOS 18 and newer (Mail is under Apps).
- Mail on an older iPhone or iPad For iOS and iPadOS 17 and older (Mail is directly in Settings).
- Gmail app on Android and iPhone For the Gmail app on your phone or tablet.
- Thunderbird For Thunderbird on Windows, Mac and Linux.
Gmail on the computer (gmail.com) can no longer fetch a mailbox from another provider since 2026. On the computer, use the webmail or one of the apps above; the Gmail app on your phone does work.
Buttons sometimes have slightly different names per version than here; the details you fill in are always the same.
